Let me start off by saying that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. So if you miss-spell something in your post, or accidentally forget to capitalize something, it's no big! That's why there are modify buttons.
Second of all, I'm not judging you when I read your posts or when I tell you what you need to work on. It's just friendly advice. You don't have to follow it. After all, my RPs aren't the best either.
Now that I've got those things said, let me start to post the guidelines;;
--When it's your turn to start out a thread, try starting out with a good description of where your character is. Take the lake for example; if you're there, you might want to describe what the weather is like. Like if there's wind, or if it's dry, or rainy. Also, adding the littlest touches to the details will make the rp a bit more interesting. Like the way the soft, lucious morning grass crunches under your character's feet.
--The next thing you want to do, is to state the reason why your character is there. So you might have reasons like, the lake was his/her favorite place to be on campus and she needed inspiration for a song, painting, story, etc... or maybe they just had nothing better to do. Just make sure to give the readers a good eplanation on why and what your characters are doing at the specific place.
--Now, I assume everyone has written a profile with the family history, personalities, and home life. [or atleast you have come up with an idea like that in your head] Well, if you have, bring that into your RPs! Let's say your character is a bit shy okay? And there are other people at the lake? Good. Now, instead of posting something like this; 'Lizz saw people at the lake, so she walked to the opposite side and sat down.' Try posting something like this; As Lizz arrived at the lake, her gaze rested on the small crowd of people. Being the shy person that she was, she decided against asking to join them. Instead, she silently walked to the opposite side of the waters, her head hanging slightly and her small hands stuffed inside the pokets of her blue jeans. After a few moments of walking, she found the perfect spot and sat down, her envious eyes still watching the happy group of people.'
--Describing how your character looks or what they are wearing isn't always necessary, but it can be useful. However, it will show off a bit of your character's personality and will add detail to your post! I mean, do you like to express yourself through your clothes? I know I do.
--You all have imaginations... so use them! There are so many things around us that we can put into our RPs. This makes them a little more personal and gives you a way that you can relate to your character. For example, when I'm sad, I tend to make my character have a bad day. Or if I'm in a good mood, so is my character. Also, you can put your personal expiriences in there too! Like if you have ever spoken in your sleep, maybe that's a little bad habbit that your character has! As long as it's realistic for the board, anything goes!
--As I said, no one is perfect, so that's another reason why you might want to proof read and spell check your posts. Okay, so no one likes to proof read, but it'll save you a little bit of embarassment. Sometimes, the smallest mistakes, can be the worst. Such as misspelling the word 'of.' [I'm only saying this because I once turned in a paper with 'of' spelt 'ove'. Yeah, I know... >.<]. So please, please, please remember to proof read.
--Chat speak. There is only one word to describe that. NO! Never ever use chat speak in an RP! It looks tacky. So no nvm, wtf, lol, or any of that stuff. Come on... it doesn't take that long to write out the entire word. Oh! And no abriviations! That means no posting the letter "U" when you should be posting "YOU".
--Last but not least, HAVE FUN! That's what this is all about, right?
If you do choose to sign up for my help, please remember that I will be giving you suggestions and guidelines along the way. I'll also have you do some practice posts with me. I'll be sort of like a pair of training wheels. The one thing I really ask is for you to please not waist my time.
